SOLD NIB .32 cal Dixie Gun Works Squirrel Rifle

I have for sale or trade one unfired Dixie Gunworks .32 caliber flintlock Squirrel Rifle, with original box (box is not in mint condition).

The frizzen on the DGW lock has no scratches as flint has never been installed in the jaw of the cock. All other metal and wood is in "as new" condition.

I bought the .32 cal flinter during the early 80s as part of Dixie's initial run of Squirrel Rifles - serial number is in the low 20s.

It’s a dgw Tennessee mountain rifle. Po boy style (all iron fittings, no fancy pants patch box.)That is a grease hole, you pour in your bear tallow and off you go. Damned nice rifle, I have one in .50. Sparks and fires every time if your flint is even halfway decent.

Actually, it is a Dixie Gunworks Squirrel Rifle. The early Squirrel Rifles were shipped in Mountain Rifle boxes - I don't know if Squirrel Rifle logo boxes were ever printed.

Grease hole. It’s used to store a quantity of grease for lubricating shooting patches.

Miroku - it is one of the initial run of Squirrel Rifles.

That would be the Grease Hole, where bear grease or some other similar stuff would be handy to grease the patch with. Common on Southern Mountain Rifles, the plain not fancy guns that were workaday tools. My Dixie .50 cal. SMR looks to be made by the same mfgr. as the one in the photo, which may be Miroku, a good brand. I filled my Grease Hole with beeswax just to have it filled, without any grease getting all over anything.

No, not a kit. Rifle was part of the first manufacturer's run of Squirrel Rifles.

If I'm not mistaken, the earliest ones were made in Belgium but had some problems with quality.
Then they started having Miroku make them and things got a lot better. Have two and love them both.
I believe Miroku makes guns for some of the top unmentionable companies. I won't say any more about
them or this one.

As I have stated, this Squirrel Rifle is part of Dixie Gun Works' initial run.

Made In Japan is stamped on the barrel, which indicates to me the rifle was not manufactured in Belgium.

The grease hole works in cool weather, if the gun is used in hot weather you may want to remove the some of the grease or you'll be wiping it off your clothes. Voice of experience ...
