Someone named Duncaninfrance made this
nipple cleaning holder to assist with
holding revolver nipples while scrubbing
them.
Someone else named Shultzhaus improved on
it by making his out of brass with holes
threaded to not only fit his revolver
nipples but also his rifle nipple.
It can work for clean out screws too.

i like it! :hatsoff: now off to the tool shack to get some stuff

That gadget was gonna be my next undertaking to go along with the tool I made for the Walker mainspring. Before too long, BP revolver cleaning isn't gonna be fun anymore.

Neat idea , :hmm: and if I had any revolvers left I might be tempeted to make one  But I'm doing the single shot pistols and I only have ro worry about dropping and losing 1 nipple under the bench at a time . :shake: I'd also miss running the sharp bristles of my little scrub brush under my finger nails :haha: I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible , and have done away with most of the "labor saving devices I made and collected over the years . :v

That looks very effective for use with an old tooth brush.

I use my Son's 20 year-old "sippy-cup" and pour in some Butch's Black Powder Bore Shine. Near the beginning of the cleaning process (have it down to 45 minutes with my Walker) I remove all of the nipples and immerse them in the sippy-cup, and swish them around from time to time. The caked-on crud of the black powder fouling emulsifies in the chemical and falls off of the nipples for the most part.

After cleaning & oiling the rest of the revolver, I take the nipples out of the solution and wipe off the rest of the crud with a paper towel, then oil & re-install. Since the Bore Shine has a drying agent in it, I don't even have to use a nipple pick.

I clean my revolvers on my kitchen table since the light is better. A couple of paper towels put down on top of the plastic tablecloth. Using my system with the sippy cup has saved me from an angry wife finding "tooth brush spray" in all directions in her kitchen :yakyak: .

That threaded piece of metal looks like a great idea, especially for folks who have a "work bench" or other well-lit area that doesn't need to stay pristine.

Thanks for sharing!

Dave

This is a family forum. How dare you use...

Oh, OK. SWMBO just told me that's not a dirty word. Sorry. :surrender: :idunno:
