I have 4 diffrent nipple wrenches in my box and none of them will fit on a 1860 Army 44 or a 1851 Navy 44. Who has the best that will work on thes guns? I see a lot of them for sale on the internet but do not know what ones will work for the Colts.

After failures with conventional wrenches, I bought one of these to deal with those hard-to-remove revolver nipples:

Thus far, I have only the revolver head, but I plan on getting the one for #11 rifle. It's not p/c, but I consider it a must for my tool box.

Order directly from Mr Cash and get it one heck of alot cheaper than Cabela's.

You are correct -- and actually I did buy direct from Mr. Cash!

I picked one up at Cabela's a few months ago and I wouldn't be without it now. Only issue I had with it was the nipple socket kept falling out of the wrench. I solved that by placing one of those small rare earth magnets on the back side of the wrench to hold the socket in place. That works fine except it is so strong it attracts other metal objects when I put it in my kit.

At least I don't have to worry about losing the nipple socket anymore!

Goto www.tdcmfg.com and search for "nipple wrench". As CaCop said they are cheaper when you buy them from tdcmfg, like $12.60 vs $21.99 cheaper! Made me :barf: when I found out.

FWIW, I don't have any BP revolvers (yet!), but I have three rifles and two single shot pistols that have percussion locks and for three out of the five it is such a hassle to remove the nipple with the traditional 'T' wrench w/out removing the barrel (hammer gets in the way). That is why I use the Ted Cash ratchet wrench.
