Nipples for FIE Revolvers

I recently purchased a Made in Italy FIE revolver which is fitted no10 caps, Local stores exclusively stock no11 caps so I would like to use nipples sized appropriately. From what I gather FIE was an Importer and there are no manufacturers label on the gun. Does anyone know who was making these and what threads the nipples use?

Only guessing but metric 6×1.00 or 6×.75. A more educated member will have the correct answer for you (us) directly.

Yes sir, 6x75 for earlier production but may be to short For later production need # 11 caps

Once you identify the threads the only the other thing you need to know is the distance from the face where it contacts the cylinder to the top of the nipple. Track of the Wolf has some great pages giving nipple dimensions and in many cases the guns they fit.

If you have a dial caliper you can match up dimensions on your existing nipples and pick the right ones from the list on Track of The Wolf. I have 6 #11 nipples coming to the mail box tomorrow for an 1858 Pietta Remington from Track.
