Have been for over thirty years . My only regret is not having the spare money to get a lifetime membership when I first started. Now I doubt that I have enough life left to justify one, so I just get three years at a time.

$50 for the magazine and support of all the other ML related programs. Scholarships for youth, Territorial, LongHunter Society, Certified ML Instructor classes & Range Officer, Educational programs, etc..

I was. They have a "no refund" policy regarding reservations at their grounds. People lost money when the NMLRA scheduled events in late 2020 knowing there was a chance ongoing Covid restrictions would cancel them, yet they still refused to refund fees.

The justification was "rules are rules," and it was explained the policy was put in place over 25 years ago when bad weather caused many cancellations and the refunds almost bankrupted them.

Weather is unpredictable, as are pandemics, but they have had 25 years to develop better policy. I'm not going to support an organization that thinks it is justified in keeping people's money because of poor planning and administration.

I was 40 years ago, rejoined two years ago. Chances of attending anything are getting slimmer and frankly, $50 is pretty steep for a magazine vastly different than what I enjoyed in the old days. Lovely magazine, but stories of rich people shooting exotic critters isn't my interest. Debating whether to send them $50 or put a half-tank of gas in my truck.

I've been a member a number of years. The monthly magazine, Muzzle Blasts, is very interesting, and has a variety of articles on building, shooting, collecting, etc. If one can budget for it, also get Muzzleloader, which is very heavy on history, shooting, etc., specific to muzzleloaders, and kind of focused on the pre-Civil War era, like the F&I War. NMLRA is $50/yr., Muzzleloader a bi-monthly and the cover price is about 6 bucks. Good post, thanks. Try them on the newsstand if you can before subscribing.

I am. I only joined because a muzzleloading club I joined this year likes to have the club membership also be members of the NMLRA. It is not mandatory by any means, but it helps them secure affordable insurance for the property and activities. Or so I was told.

Here too. Well worth joining. Their "Muzzle Blast" is a good magazine. But not as good as "Muzzleloader", which I think is excellent.
