I think that the reason for that may be political pressure due to the fact that a felon could have a BP shipped to his door and buy a cylinder to convert it to an undocumented unmentionable with no paper trail. However, he’d have a pretty hard time finding ammo, or getting reloading supplies in today’s market. Plus it would hardly be the weapon of choice, but I think that is one loophole that they are trying to close.

Check the American SHOTGUN pistol sponsor's wares and think about it.

I doubt that there is a firearm-desiring felon that would go through that much trouble to eventually end up with an illegal (for him) hand gun. According to the dems he could simply grab a piece on any big city street corner, or gun show.

I don't understand that statement. It just isn't true - if that's the way you truly think, then why are you here?
There are revolvers (and other guns) available that are chambered for 44LC - I have 2, one a rifle and one a pistol.
The hassle of loading a conversion chambered gun is just that - a hassle.
I have cap and ball guns to shoot cap and ball, I have flintlocks to shoot flintlocks and will always "go back" (and forth) to cap and ball, flintlock or modern revolver - without the hassle.
After all is said and done I agree with you 100 percent Grizz44Mag!!! Thank you for waking me up. I think it was somewhat of a fad for me and did enjoy it as I’m sure you do too but in all honesty I love the cap and ball both calibers 36 and 44. i load my 44 Remington mostly with 45LC BP and have used smokeless cowboy loads in it I think because I purchased them together the cylinder with the revolver. I purchased a second from another company in Wisconsin the first from Taylor. I guess because I used that configuration over the Ball and powder in that revolver I became comfortable with it and only thought it was a hassle initially. I became pretty proficient at it and both cylinders fit my Remington very well. I read somewhere they had something similar back in the day I guess for those that could not afford the conversion. I have an 1851 and 61 Colt that i love; i do like the colt 51over the Remington 44 it was my first BP. Shoots lights out with ball or conicals. LOL I have not shot the 44 with conversion cylinder in over a year but the 1851 quite a bit. I also have the Manley former for paper cartridges. I make my own caps too and would recommend that if you can’t get caps. As you mentioned serious shooting hunting should be done with a modern day revolver. The conicals from Eras Gone By both shoot well in my Colts. Thanks for calling me out Grizz44Mag and bringing me to my senses! Think before commenting!
