i have several bottles of plain linseed oil, could this be used to make canvas oilcloth. i have made oilcloth with boiled linseed oil with good results, would there be any difference...thanks!

Well "Boiled" is just the addition of drying agents.
So your gonna hafta deal with ALOT of extra time hanging the stuff to dry. :idunno:

While the term boiled does today denote adding dryers, originally it meant actually boling the oil i.e. heat polymerizing the oil
While a bit messy and stinky one can easily make their own real boiled linseed oil -
see her for a how-to http://www.muzzleblasts.com/archives/vol5no2/articles/mbo52-1.shtml

for those who prefer not to do it themselves can by real boiled linseed oil from Tried and True Oil
