Is there any reason why they don't use babbitt as shot? Its harder than lead i've cast it really easy. With all this getting away from toxic lead this would be a simple subsitute. :hatsoff:RunningBear.

As I recall from my machine shop days 30 years ago, Babbit metal is an alloy that containsd quite a bit of lead.

"Babbit" is a lead alloy 61% lead, and 39% tin,
it should cast somewhat easier than lead ( because of the quantity of tin) "BUT" the price of tin will drive up the price of babbit, so much that it will be quite pricey.

There are several types of babbitt, and one that I looked up that said they didn't have any lead in it thats why I asked.RunningBear.
