I have a North Star (parts...built by them? Don't know..) fowler w/ 41" barrel in 20ga. Barrel profile and lock looks identical to those shown. Chop off the butt plate, nail on an iron plate, swap out the trigger guard and there ya have it, trade gun. Yeah, shows what I know about the genre! (Very little). Not planning to sell, but while we're talking North Star...pics are fun.

Yeah , thats a North Star " Early English " trade gun . Has the shallow trigger guard and flat serpent but retaining a late style lock . Good looking gun . Ive made a lot of early N.W. trade guns and Carolina Guns , the correct versions of what they were going for .

Sure wish I could find one !! Really want one in 20 ga. There's a fella on here that has a gorgeous 24 ga. one but ... D@#& , sure like to have a 20 ga. 36" or 42" barrel ....

n
Don’t forget about their “Chief Grade” trade guns! This one’s in 30”.

The “Chief Grade” is a variety of trade gun that was offered by North Star, but I digress.

Oh yeah , Ive seen them , handled them before . Interesting gun ... Fellow had one for sale on here not long ago ...
There’s an original that’s very similar on Gun Broker right now. Demonstrates just how closely NSW attempted to copy these guns.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that North Star offered trade guns that differed from your run-of-the-mill serpent side plate model. But I get that the heart wants what it wants…
