I am building a tennesee poorboy rifle with out a nose cap I need some ideas on how to shape the wood. All of the pictures online that I have found dont show the end of the guns. Thanks
 
Shape it the same way you would if there was a nosecap! Just continue the shape of the fore end forward, and cut it off square, just barely short of the muzzle. :wink:

Yeah, needless to say, that gun is not exactly in "like new" condition! :haha: I believe it has two or three other staples here and there holding busted wood together. But, it was the only thing I could find on short notice showing the muzzle end of the stock! :)
 
I'd have to say, cutting the fore end that much short of the muzzle is unusual to say the least. :hmm:
 
It also looks like the last few inches of wood has been glued on......must have been a shortage of walnut.......Fred
