You did really well on that deal. Sorry about your dad. Mine passed away February 3rd 15 years ago and I still miss him like hell. He died at age 69 so having your dad around till age 85 is great.

I bought a gun just like yours off GB a couple of months ago and its not marked Cabelas but was made by Investarms. I also own a 45 and 54 caliber same brand. The 50 I just got is a little different than the other 50s I have seen. Mine has a 6 groove instead of 5 groove and has a 1/60 twist just like my great Plains rifle. IIRC mine was made in 1982 and is unfired with a perfect bore.

I have a very special request for everyone here.....
All of you have become like "family" to me in a very short time, and I have an idea to honor my father.....
The next time you take your bp what ever out to shoot, on your first shot, just take a moment and say, "this one is for Jon"..... I have requested this on the FB page I belong to, and think my father would get a kick out of it....... Not sad, not mourning, just celebrating the man that threatened to "take me out because he brought me in"..... Heheh, we were friends that did not see eye to eye on oh so many things, but would stand up for each other till the death!
He was not a war hero, a pioneer, nor anything historic, but he was a good father and husband that loved life and living it.
This "Hawken" may not be the best representation of a true Hawken, but it is a feel good thing for me that only my son shall inherit, and his son after..... We are truly the only son, of an only son, of an only son, of an only son..... but we are all family.

Consider it done sir. Sorry for your loss. You will enjoy that fine hunting rifle.
