You know yu with a bow is a scary thought. :shocked2:

Well, that puts Oregon's Sports Pac license into a different perspective. For about $130, I got a hunting and fishing license, an elk tag, a deer tag, a bear tag, a cougar tag, a turkey tag, a salmon/steelhead/halibut tag and state upland and waterfowl stamps. I ain't complaining, mind you, but many here do.

"I ain't complaining, mind you, but many here do."
I do, but I complain about everything :cursing: I do miss the $2.50 Deer tags and $4.00 Elk tags.

Here is a link for Vermont's hunting license--
http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/licenses.cfm

Hunting starts at $90-$120 bucks and goes UP. Other states are also in that range.

Wow, Tennesee the Sportsman's starts as $136!!! --- http://www.state.tn.us/twra/huntlicense.html

Comparatively, then, we have it good in NY State.

'Looking forward to hunting soon!

Geesh the last Vermont non-resident tag I bought I think cost $38.00, I still have it. Used to be 2nd Saturday of November and run two weeks. I missed a lot of yearbook pictures cause they picked one of those weeks to take the pic's. :haha: I was in the woods.

The last Maine non-resident tag cost me $98.00 and I forgot but the last N.Y non-resident tag cost just over $100.00. I miss hunting these States but geesh I can buy 12 resident tags here at $12.50 a piece if I want to. And I only have to deal with 5k to 6K hunters out there trying to do the same thing.

Rhode Island?! Rhode Island?!?!

Gee, you can stick Rhode Island in most State's back pocket and still have room for a wallet!
hahaha. just funnin' ya.

I prefer hunting my own land and having zero hunters competing.

Interesting thing about land: In many places where the deer are thick it really is inexpensive. Or get a lease from a landowner who does NOT want much traffic.

Here is terrible, they will loose crops, ornamental plants etc, but kill a deer! Oh my god no. But yes I;m the same way, hunt property no one else does. And State land is just plain suicidal. :shake:

Stumpkiller,
Thanks for the detail report on how funding is allocated for wildlife and fisheries!
I sure hope there is a good system of overseeing how these funds are distributed! :stir:
Was any particular reason given for such a large increase in license cost?

I'm sure Gov. Peterson has pledged to keep both eyes on it (inside NYer joke).

Reason was $20 billion statewide budget deficit.

.saddest part, least where I am,,the Governor (who's idea it was to raise$$) will probably see more deer than ME!..
gotcha! :rotf:

Interesting attached minutes of the meeting held by NY state CONSERVATION FUND (WITH DEC attending) earlier this year and the increase in fees was discussed and why it was 'needed'---

http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/cfabmin0209.pdf

See page 3. Hunting license increase of 33% was originally proposed. Ended up being less.
