Obsidian question.

During one of my prospecting forays, I found a decent sized chunk of it. Has anyone ever heard of using it in a rock lock? I figure it would explode like any other glass.

I have managed to get one ignition shower with Obsidian. then it was clean up these nasty SUPER sharp shards. next shot with chert was delayed for 15 minutes while i found bandaids.

They can make some really sharp surgical blades, but it can't take an impact.

It's laying all over this country in East Idaho. Got some arrow heads made of black and white obsidian. Sharp as glass but not sparky.

they have found that obsidian can be knapped to a one molecule thick edge. not so with any metal.
some brain surgery is done with obsidian blades. much less damage to tissue.

Obsidian no good for sparks but they sure make pretty knives though!
