I am thinking of using a MBS octagon to round pistol barrel for my next pistol build. Is the barrel normally inletted straight to the diameter and flats of the barrel or are they inletted around the wedding bands?

The barrel is inletted straight down to half it's thickness...or slightly less. Inlet around the "wedding bands", though absolute precision is not that necessary.
