Underhammer Guns by Hershel C. Logan
Hardcover with dust jacket -- The book is in wonderful condition -- The Dust Jacket has wearing & tearing -- but it protected the book!
So old....and yet so refreshingly new is the story of the Underhammer Guns.
Old, because the origin of these guns, with the hammer under the barrel, dates back into the flintlock period.
New because most laymen and many collectors today know relatively little about them.
Yet these unique arms are well on their way to becoming companions of those other highly prized and much sought after American arms....the Kentucky pistols and Deringers.
Outside of an article by the author in 1956 little has ever appeared in print on these fascinating and unusual firearms.
In his many months of intensive research, and in the final compilation of the study the author had the cooperation of fellow collectors and authorities both here and abroad.
Underhammer Guns is a book inn which we the publishers have taken much pride, for we predict, without doubt, that it is a volume which will become a standard reference work on this class of arms for many years to come.
