The 27th of Dec. was Ohio's last muzzleloading hunt of the year. We flew out to Columbus on Christmas day to my brothers, got all our Christmas goodies and that evening I borrowed my brothers truck and headed east to Guernsey county to hook up with a church friend John at his family farm to scout alittle. John has 75 acres 25 corn and 50 woods. We spent the night at John's 97 year old uncle in Newcomerstown OH, then out in the AM to the farm. Wow what a beautiful sunrise and cold as heck, glad I had lots of cold gear. Sorry to say no deer. John saw 2 does but wanted a buck, we had lunch at Rockeys off IH 77 and went back for evening hunt. No deer. John had a #$line with Nikon scope, I had my GPR 50. Have a nice pix of the cabin on the farm. Any time in the woods is good. Next year !!

Sorry you didn't bring home the bacon, but it sounds like a great trip. Thanks for letting us ride along with you.

I read your post and thought where you from when you said it was cold as heck. You should come back when it really gets cold and we got snow. Its been really warm for this time of year. 29th and 30th it was in the high 50's
Glad you had a good time. I saw a bunch of deer over the season and had one shot and missed. I have seena total of seven deer this year while out hunting.
IM going to dig my bow out and brush up on it and go back. We got until Febuary for bow season still.

"cold as heck" WHAT??? I was out for the whole 4 days in a T-shirt and I was sweating. It was 50-60 degrees. :haha: All the deer went nocturnal with their winter coat and fat on. Whats the temp in Kalifornistan these days? :rotf: Just funnin with ya buddy, Glad ya had a good time

I know it got up in the 50 in the afternoon but in the AM it was in the 20s, my wife is from Minnesota and I have seen some real cold stuff , my blood is thin ,I think I will go to the beach

Cold! I have no idea how many deer went by me while I was posted on the ground. It was so warm I fell asleep for hours. I wonder if any came to my sleeping "grunt" calls? :rotf: Seriously, this has not been one of my better seasons. I am not sure if it has been the wet weather, lack of mast crop, too warm, or just plain fewer deer. I have seen fewer deer by far this year than I can ever remember seeing since I started hunting in '78.
