A while back I purchased a TC New Englander 12 guage shotgun that had been converted to flintlock by a retired Ohio gunsmith. I love the gun and I had a thought.

It would be nice to have a barrel that I can drop in to use on deer such as a rifled 62 caliber/20 guage. Does anyone make such a drop in barrel? I tried searching the Green Mountain site but to no avail.

Thanks for any replies.

BB The New Englander was also made with 50 and 54 cal. barrels both percussion. Not aware of any other drop-ins.
I also converted one to flint in 12 ga....Can't see any reason why a 50 or 54 cal barrel couldn't be converted to flint too.
Your other option would be a custom barrel and breach plug.
Also have had good success with round balls out of the 12 ga. to 50 yards. My barrel is choked and used the cylinder tube and it shot minute of deer.
I enjoy shooting mine....Good Luck...Dan

Minute of deer... LOL that is awesome!

I'm going to use that term tomorrow at work, no matter what.

Since you brought it up, what exactly is "minute of deer"?

Also, when your gun is sighted for "minute of deer" and you get the opportunity to hunt squirrel, rabbit, turkey, hogs, elk, moose, or buffalo, do you have to readjust your sights?

For grins I ran some rb's through the 12 ga...yes it only has a front bead yes it shoots low..3 to 4" group at 50 yards = Minute of deer!

CJ--Had no choice its the barrel that came with the gun.
