Hey all,
Been a long time since I visited. I have an older cabelas Left hand percussion hawken .50. Investarm?
Is there any press fit / minimal tooling locks that I can switch out to make it a flint? I was hoping I could find a barrel ready to put in the stock, but I imagine I could cut off the percussion nipple area and thread/line the hole?
Newbie, so be gentle :idunno:

Cabelas sold many different guns over the years we would need more details ( a picture would help ) to give a definate answer. :idunno:

might be ahead to just go buy another rifle in Flint. All you have from the original rifle when your finished it the stock and mybe the barrel that you have reworked.
Ive tried it both ways,,I go and buy another rifle,,people get in and out of BP so fast ,weapons are always available. That and you have another VERY good reason to buy another rifle!!!!!! Going to look at T/C Hawken, 50 cal has both, Percussion/Flint, barrels and locks, never fired $300.00 OBO It;s summer, fishing not hunting!!!!!!OBO comes to mind....

Last fall I bought a Lyman GPR 50 cal percussion and left handed, yes I shoot goofy eye, right handed, left eye dominant.Rifle was 8 mo old.
Fella was moving on to a Custom,,$250.00 and got 100 prb,2 boxes of RSW/CCI caps.

Hey all,
Not too good with photos yet, but it isn't old as in "Dirt old".. Cabelas still sells them, the Hawken, brass furniture. I guess it's just old to me :) 1st of many I "acquired"
I believe that now the leftie is only offered in the perc. version. I have a few T/c righties too, but for flintin' I want the correct lock side :)
I was thinking on just gettin' a "new" to me rifle, but the only one that is somewhat appeasing my eye was the Lyman GPR .54 LT flint Production wise...,
Custom, Pecatonica, TVM etc... which would be a bit pricey for me right now.... I drool, but that is for when the kiddos no longer recquire my paycheck to feed them :hatsoff:
I have 5 muzzleloaders, so cannabalizing this one wouldn't make me cry too much.. Thanks for the responses.

It's do able. There are no direct left hand drop in locks, but the L & R late english has the same general dimensions, so either some metal, or wood needs to be moved or added. You will need a flint hooked breach, and possibly a barrel. The Track catalog has full size drawings. Just compare the RPL LH percussion profile, with the #1000 LH Late English. Good luck

Bill
