Found this old cleaver today, how old do ya think it is ?
Bet it`s broken through a few pelvic bones.

My Dad was a meat cutter for 43 years for the Kroger Co. I have his old cleaver and it is the same brand as yours. Heavy isn't it. I would quess that mine is 50 to 60 years old.

Real heavy, can ya see in the pic right above the name where someone has been pounding on it. That`s why i figured it was used to bust pelvic bones. Meat cutters wouldn`t use one like that would they.

Pitchy Heres one I made into a throwing knife. I bought it at a yard sale for 1.50. Reshaped it and put on leather handles. Throws real good, not a real heavy one. The handle part is hammered down thin. Sheath is top of a old boot. Dilly

I have one of those old cleavers as well. There are marks on it where it was pounded too. I always wish old tools could talk.

Yepper, bet they could tell some great stories.

Boar-dilly, that`s a great idea for making a good knife. I`m going to watch for some more cleavers.

Dilly, that's great! A good example of reusing too, right down to the sheath being made from an old boot. Sometimes you folks amaze me with your creativity.

I pick up the occasional old cleaver when I can but the only name brand I've ever found was an old Boker.
