Well it looks like an Enfield & might have started out as one The 'Warranted Superior ' is from a hand saw , The brand perhaps some control idea . Did the Reverent say where he worked ? Africa a big place not that its critical .
I had written the above but seems it didn't go earlier So Ile add my bit in response to all the accolades Ime supposed to earn . I don't see any Nepalese or Spanish or West Africa coast' Dane gun 'link. Its too good and I can't see they would go to copying an Enfield to that extent for the native market . But truth is always stranger than fiction . and generality's don't always fit the bill .What I would ask the Poster is ask where the Revenant concerned worked . I hope this SWAG summation sounds suitably credible and to uphold the standard of waffle Ime supposed to maintain .

The ramrod appears to be made of steel. About 3 inches down from the top there is about a 3 inch bulge in the rod, and then it returns to its normal size all the way to the end. The end is somewhat bent and flattened like a flat head screwdriver. Pictures follow

Dear Dialcannon . that swell is early Enfield I cant see why its been messed with .One notion hardly a certainty but perhaps it was a' got up' piece in Pakistan such detail as the bands hardly African . Then it gets from Peshawar (Where such certainly where made as copies then it finds its way to Karachi & Dows go from that port to East Africa Then its traded , lost ,stolen & ends up in his parishioner's hands . That might fit LOOONG shot pure potential guess ( Much trading into Daresalam ) all SWAG but more likley than West Coast Africa .

Well My SWAG not too far out then Dar Es Sallam the ' Port of Peace' is in modern Tanzania . My friends do me great honour , Ime not sure I warrant it but appreciate it . You are quite Welcome

Yes, Dial, Rudyard is a member. from Sheffield England, but many years banished to NZ!
Gunmaker yes, but likes matchlocks the most I think. Made piles of flint guns though.
In Africa he made guns for locals out of drill rod, jam tins and fence posts.

Dear Pukka actually I made the rock drill specials for me but the description is bang on Rock drills or' Jumper bits' have a central hole to the tip so air can blow the dust out. On such camps these where available as was fuse that I unravelled to get powder & the Slugs where poured into the crudest gang mould of wood & sheet iron . only the lock was a E I coy Pistol lock I bought in Kabool (Old Spelling ) Bang in the middle of Zulu land working on a rail line extension didnt have much choices . I should post some pics but Ime not good at E gajets stuff Regards looks like we scored on the Missionaries gift gun ..

Very interesting. The long nipple on it is similar to those found on guns made by the Konyak Naga tribesmen of Myanmar (Burma).

I have looked very carefully at the lock plate; even with a magnifying glass, because I thought I saw the shadow of an image, but I can’t tell.

Although the rammer appears early or second pattern Enfield P '53 type, I think that the lock is totally a close-ish fabrication of such a lock. It's not quite right anywhere by what I can tell. (from the land of nearly right, or partly right.)
The barrel May be Enfield, but would need dismounting to tell as it should be marked on the underside, even if proofs on left side of breech are not now showing.
It appears I got the Dane gun name wrong!

I used the name for cobbled together guns made from bits. This one has a good possibility of having an Enfield barrel and trigger guard., at any rate.

I am considering removing the bands to look at the barrel. Two of the bands are somewhat loose being made tight by rubber under the bands. The screw holding the hammer is finger tight.

By the Time the 1853 Enfield's came into service The East India Company was effectivly finished off By The Imperial Government . There where East India Government Enfield' s but none would bear the Lion Mark Hardings East India Company Small arms ' Introduction' stops at 1851 & the P 5I Minie isn't included either . I know him he isnt likley to make an error or omission . I actually contributed to the huge four volume work .. just made a musket nothing too studious .

They look more like assembly mark never seen which points to replaced or locally made got up gun any sight would be a fixed rear .& likley a kennel shaped front sight . But on a native made gun anything goes still interesting for what it is ,

Well my daughter came to my aid, good on her . The pics are of a Petronel I knocked up & a group of me & my mate in Zulu land my ' boys' made me the Ronda Vaal by the White Umfolosi river mile 90 , The rock drill special I made at Mile 38 I think , Bench with two Scots on the go Brass plated Early flint 'After' Felix Werder c1650 , Lemon Butt is a prop & not Snaphance old Turkish off cut brl no plug. last just error, Well got some at least .
