Feb 18-19 the Old Washington State Park and the Early Arkansas Reenactors Assoc are sponsoring a pre-1840 event at the Park (a few miles north of Hope, Ark). Some folks are setting up Thurs or Friday (16-17 Feb). No fees or registration required. If any of y'all are in the area drop in and see us. There will be a primitive camp and an area for modern tent camping. If you have not been there, Old Washington was a frontier town built at the intersection of five trails, including the main one to Texas that Davy Crockett and others used on the way to (eventually) the Alamo. It retains alot of its old charm and is also the site of James Black's forge, a reputed Bowie Knife maker of the 1820s-30s.
P.S. contact the Park for further details--see their website for contact info.
