that's true, i didn't see anyone who did not like it who has shot it. hopefully once a few more people start shooting it we will have more chronographing to compare to.

on that note, i just weighed out a couple of charges set at 90 grns by volume

swiss 2F
95.9grns

old E 2F
87.6grns

that could make the differance in velocity, but it could just be the moisture content in the powder too. once the weather clears i will repeat the rifle tests with equal amounts by weight. which means i will be boosting the charge by volume of olde E to match the weight of the swiss charge. logically one would expect more fouling. we will see.

So far this Eynsford doesn't seem to change the fouling with increased powder charges.
There is quite a bit of difference between what 1.5 and 2 leave behind, and those that have shot the 3f say it's really clean and really really fast. A 500 gr patched bullet doing over 1500 out of a 44-90 fast...
Be glad when ol Klatch makes it back home in June and I can see what that ol flintgun can do with this stuff.

i believe swiss is running around $30lb, and olde E around $25lb.

When I called Powder Inc, I was told in 25 pound lots the Old "E" is $16 a pound so I had a pound added to my order. You can go to their website and look for yourself the website is: www.powderinc.com

Yep, from Graf's for Grafs brand powder powder.

As for storage, there's a thread or two here on that, mine is not in some fancy steel box, just an old ammo crate in a cool dry place away from things that might cause trouble.

It is only running a dollar more than Goex or $16.99 a pound at Graf's right now. I was going to pick up 10 pounds but they are out of all CCI #10 and 11's. I'll buy as soon as they get the caps in. One Haz Mat per oeder sure helps.

The Haz Mat Fee is unliked because it was added out of no ware. It made bulk buys a requirement if you wanted the prices reasonable. Geo. T.

Friend of mine brought up today that they designate the powder on the can as 2f, and not 2fg, as the g is generally used to designate graphite coating. This could explain the duller color of the powder and the clean burning , he's thinking. I tend to think he might be on to something.

don't know about the graphite, but i would think better ingredients would lend more to clean burning. as for some other opinions i.ve read recently. some have said there was no or little smoke, i didn't notice any more or less smoke than swiss, it certainly smokes like BP should.

A much lighter smoke than most powders, and also a different smell. Not chocolaty like Swiss but more of sweet wood smoke. Also doesn't seem to have the pungent sulphur smell when cleaning things up that most other powders give off.
Between the smaller screen size and what ever they've used in the ingredients this stuff is fast very fast, and cleaner than any bp I've ever shot, and with the exception of the Lido , I think I've shot them all over the last 40 years.

Something else I've been pondering on. I haven't shot regular Goex for almost 10 years, going with other powders instead. But I do know a couple of folks that have reported post Hogdons take over the powder has been weighing less per volume, than the pre hodgons, but the velocity and accuracy has remained pretty consistant.
So that's starting to suggest they've been tinkering with the powder recipe for quite awhile, while trying to come up with this new stuff.

Finally shot the Olde Eynsford today. Using 3F in a 45 with RB. First thing I noticed was more recoil and a different sound than Goex BP. Olde Eynsford has more of a crack sound and less smoke. I dropped the charge 10 grains and shot a 2" group at 50 yards. As said before there is less fouling too.

shotgun velocity notes.

12ga, 1 1/8oz lead #8's with a square load volumetricaly of swiss 2F and olde E2F

@5ft from the muzzle.

OE- 1088
1091
1077
Swiss- 1107
1115
1098

for comparison here are some diamond back loadings in 16ga

1oz lead #7 1/2's
75grns 2F DB

955fps
958fps

same load with swiss 2F
1074fps
1159fps

notes, the fouling produced by the OE seemed to be slightly less than the swiss loadings and produced nearly the same velocity as the swiss. IMO, the OE makes an excellent shotgun powder. both powders produced good patterns.

the diamond back shot slower and much dirtier by comparison.

your mileage may vary.
