Just took delivery of an older DGW Pedersoli 12 gauge double dated to 1980. I'm generally pleased with the gun, except for one thing, the hammers are extremely stiff, especially the right one. Is this typical for Pedersolis of this vintage? I'm thinking heavier hammer springs were installed at some point after the initial purchase. What do you think? Is it an easy fix? Thanks

I don’t have any experience with the double, but I do with Pedersoli locks. And yes, they can be very stiff. I filed the mainspring bend slightly narrower on two which made a nice difference. It doesn’t take much. File a little and replace the spring and try it, repeat as necessary. Then fine hone the file marks out. The old locks probably need cleaning and proper lubrication. I’d try that first.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I took the locks off and lightened the screws a little, then cleaned the mechanism with Ballistal and Q tips. It's a little better now. That spring is heavy duty. From all appearances, this gun was never fired. Thanks again.
