After casting about 700 .490 round balls using a single cavity Lee mold :cursing: , I sure wish I had spent the extra $3 :shocked2: for the 2 cavity mold. :youcrazy:
Any 5 cavity molds available?
Dave

Check with cannon mike, he makes traditional round ball gang moulds, but I don't know what sizes.

Dave,
IS .409 the only rd ball you use? I shoot way to many different cals. and The way I work is.
I will use the .490 for a while then switch to the .454 hollow point for my ruger, then do some .365 for the colt navy.By that time the .490 is cool enought

Look at it this way. With the single mold you know it casts the same size. I have a Lee 54 cal single cavity. I know it takes time but its uniform. I have a double cavity Lee mold and there is a very slight diffrence in size between the two. I doubt if it makes a diffrence, at least the shooting I do.

Yes, I have two .50 caliber rifles and one mold - so far.

Good point on consistency. I'm mostly a plinker at this stage, so I doubt if a bit of variation would matter too much. As it is, 700 balls will last me quite a while. I will check and see what Cannon Mike has to offer.

Hi Dave Lee do make 6 cavity molds altough you would need to check with them if they do it for round ball.

"Six Cavity Commercial Quality Molds $50.00
These are made for heavy duty volume production. The mold and blocks have steel bushing and alignment pins for lasting precision. Price includes a cam operated sprue plate to eliminate the pounding common to ordinary molds. The sprue plate is hard anodized and held down with wave washers at each end. No finer mold can be purchased at any price. Handles extra."

check their website for details:
