Well, this one is more of a "might-have-been," or perhaps "might not have been," rather than a HC/PC piece. It's a cotton haversack for a lady, lined with green cotton, and using a floral webbing my wife had in a box. Button closure, and two buttons to adjust the strap...

Looks good and I think back in the day a "Dandy" would have been proud to have had it :haha: .

I really like the strap as it looks like it could have been block printed and thus very early.

What time period would the material of the sack/pouch have been?

The strap is embroidered cotton webbing - I have a relative who worked for Offray ribbon for years. The bag is printed cotton, and the lining is green cotton. The floral print could be late 18th century, but I would guess from the colors that 1st or 2nd quarter of the 19th century would be more likely. The bag body is actually made from an old table runner, thus the tassel. I just thought it was different enough to stand out and be appealing.

Very nice. I've often been told I'm a "bag lady" and I would wear that haversack proudly!
