I agree with most of the above except for the lock comment. I've shot over 70 pounds of Goex through my Mt. Rifle since I built it in the late 70's. That is over 7000 rounds. Never had a single problem with the triggers since the build. Trigger was inlet too deep. A business card shim fixed it.

I am fortunate to own four custom rifles. The best shooter of the bunch gives a 1 hole, 3 shot group at 50y. So does my CVA, albeit the hole is a tad more ragged after all these years. They are accurate shooters with a bit of load development.

As for restocking it, do so only to please yourself or to learn a new skill. My $0.02.
There is a huge difference between a CVA Mountain Rifle and the CVA Kentucky Rifle that the OP has.

Not really besides the possibility of a US made barrel vs a Spanish barrel and unbridled vs bridled lock. The Spanish 1/66 twist barrels typically have wonderful accuracy. If the OP's lock craps the bed, he can buy another real cheap vs another gun. 1/2 of the real competitive shooters on our woodswalk shoot CVA/Traditions Kentuckys for a reason. It's the barrels.

I didn’t even know those were a thing. I’ll use mine til it breaks then replace it.
What you have is not the best, but it ain't half bad either. If forum members were half truthful here, they would readily admit to owning and winning with one before 'upgrading' to something 'better'.

That’s where I’m headed honestly 🤣
I'm gonna replace that stupid little brass plate with a piece of wood the same thickness, sand, and refinish mine. If I ever get around to it. You know, they did that two piece deal to save a few bucks shipping on each gun. I'm thinking had they asked their customer base most folks buying a new one would have gladly paid another five or ten bucks to cover the extra shipping cost to have a one piece stock. I would have had it been an option.

They have been putting these things out for over 50 years and the only thing that has changed is the price you pay which is about 10 times what it was back them. Ultra Hi put one out in the 70's that had a one piece stock and a lock with a bridle. Unfortunately there barrels were a total manure shoot.

Several folks have shown their results at faux tiger striping with wound string and torch. This strikes me as a good way to camouflage a splice joint. BTW I like the simplicity of the CVA lock, especially the adjustable sear engagement stop screw. That should save a bunch of tedious work to achieve a decent trigger release.

Enjoy the rifle. Ignore all the snarky know it alls here. They’re good guns and accurate. If you’re worried about the lock, get an l&r replacement. If you were to thin down the forestock, that would help a lot.

Sadly, none of the stock making places makes a one piece replacement for this gun. They make all kinds of other ghey stuff, but not that.

Good morning all.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a one piece full length stock for the above mentioned rifle?
Good day,
I completed a project like you're talking about a few years ago. As others have mentioned, what I had to do was get a stock that was inlet for the barrel and drilled for the ramrod. I did not get pre inlet for the lock and I'm glad I didn't because I had to do some lock position adjustments. It's been awhile but I believe the stock came from Dixie Gun Works.

Do you still have the rifle? I’d love to see some pictures of your work if your willing to share. I think for now I’m going to glue the stock pieces together with some ornamental piece between them but I may later get a stock like you say, inlet and drilled for the ramrod, of prettier wood, to learn how to fit a barrel and such pets to a stock. Any pointers? Tools that were necessary or nice to have?

Such parts*

As the posters above have stated….you’re not gonna find one because they never existed. A custom stock for your hardware is your only option.
treeman sorry but you are wrong they were just named something else and traditions stocks will accept his cva parts with little or no fitting the only part of your statement is they never sold one as a kit

Sandpounder,
I attached a pic of the rifle, it's the bottom of the three. I had made it for my Dad but after he passed away I took possession of it. No special tools really, I used a 1/4 inch straight chisel for most of it. I did replace the trigger guard ( because I broke the original) and the pipes. I added the patch box from an old stock. Best pointers I can say are keep the tools sharp, take your time and if you get frustrated walk away for awhile. Good luck and have fun with it.

Oh my gosh that’s amazing! That looks so much better! What kind of wood did you use?

Thank you I appreciate the kind words. It's maple, with LMF Maple stain, sealer , top coat and final buff with wax. 10 coats total, 3 of stain , 3 of sealer, 3 of top coat 1 of wax. Maybe a little overkill bit it was fun
Well worth the effort by the looks of it. How did you go about marrying the butt cap and muzzle cap? I’ve seen in the colonial gunsmith of Williamsburg movie he fits them straight then makes all flush with a file and sanding. Did you take a similar approach?
