One shot...two deer

Here's a picture of the two deer that fell to a single shot from my 20ga smoothbore night before last. There were four deer in a group moving through thick cover, as they pass about 30 yards from me, I put the bead on a nice size doe and touched it off. The deer whirled and ran about 35yds and piled up. That's when I saw another smaller deer down where the first had been shot. It had been on the other side of the bigger doe and I didn't know it was there.

I used 80gr's of 2FF and a patched .590 RB. I recover the ball just under the hide on the far side of the smaller deer.

Here's the recovered ball on the left next to an unfired one.

It would be fun explaining that to my local Game Warden. Sorry officer but it just went right through and nailed them both.

Let's see them do that with a modern centerfire!

WAY TO GO! Now thats how you break in a new gun! You put that shot right on the money. The last time I saw a double like that it was done by my father with a 12 gauge shotgun about 20 years ago in the Finger Lakes Region of NY. Funny thing too the deer were almost identical in size to yours.

Great story and pictures. Now that you have this challenge racked up. For your next :hmm: "twofer" shot, try sticking a double bitted axe in a tree and split your ball in half bagging your next pair. But of course, now, if one of 'em happens to be a big buck, you'll just have to chip a 1/3rd off of your ball having 2/3rd going to the bigger of the two.
