I have a opportunity to purchase a lyman deer stalker in.54. Any opinions, likes, dis-likes would be greatly appreciated.

It's my wife's favorite rifle. The balance is excellent and it's accurate as a snake bite with light charges (30 grains of 3f) for small game, all the way up to the largest charges you might be tempted to use. If the price is right, the buy would be a no-brainer for me.

If the price is right,,buy it,,you can always put it on the blanket....it is 1-48 ROT so you can shoot either PRB or maxies and the 54 should lay down just about anything you hunt, the recoil pad makes it a little easier on the shooter.. 24"barrel good for blinds and thick cover,,,what's not to like
Wife hunts/shoot a CVA Mountain Stalker,50 cal,,about the same size,loves it.I have a Lyman, GPR in 50 love it,some sweet.

I have one in 50 cal left hand percussion. Short handy rifle, very unpicky about load, patch thickness or ball size. Shoots subs and real powder equally well. Good accuracy and the straight stock and recoil pad mean even 100 grain loads don't kick very much. I paid $350 for mine new and it is worth every cent.

I have the same rifle and it is my most accurate rifle. It is also light and handy if you tote it up and down the hills and through the brush.

If the price is right,,buy it ...

Lots of places sell the Deer Stalker! It's pretty common.
It is not my favorite Lyman, the GPR is, so I wouldn't want it.

well i bought it. Looks almost never fired. got it for $150 on gunbroker. cant wait to shoot her

Wow, $150 is a steal. Bought mine 4 years ago for $330 (in Canada), but I think now they're more like $450 up here.

It's a great rifle - shot one buck with it so far, and lots of fun at the range. I put a peep sight on mine.

I hummed & hawed over one of these for quite some time. They seem very handy & nice to "hump' around with its small (short) size.
$150 is a good price!!
This is the price for one in Canada;
