Coming up May 13, 14 & 15th. $30 registration pays for all you can eat on 14 & 15. OK, it's muffins, coffee/hot chocolate or tea for breakfast, cold cuts for lunch and BBQ hamburger & sausages for dinner. Hey, the registration pays for the food and the porta pottys.
Fair will be held in Philomath, Oregon. It's near Corvalis (the University town and they have some decent second hand bookstores that I rummage through every year. I've got dibs on Civil War & military books). Food wise you've got to go to Corvalis 'cuz it's Booger King, McGrubs and Dairy Queen. There's a Mexican joint but it doesn't compare to Reno or the SF Bay Area.
OK, Andy Evans will be talking about abrasives, polishing & honing of metals. Dave Rase will be talking about patchbox & inlay construction with emphasis on installing the patchbox and lifting devices. Metal finishing will be covered by Steve Nelson & Jerry Huddleston. Ford Swauger will be demonstrating the forging and filing of a damascus knife. Fair Organizer Ron Scott (Yay!) will be doing powder horn (designs & construction).
You're going to meet gunmakers from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana & California (and perhaps even Nevada). Even if you're not a gunbuilder, come out and see what it takes to do things. Folks bring their guns for critique and there is no shortage of eye candy. Bring ducats. You may want to buy parts or guns.
Contact Ron Scott at [email protected] or 541-858-2800.
If for some reason (other than debt collection, process serving, revenge, satiate the mean spirit by laughing at me , remind me about an obligation I'd rather forget) you want to meet me, I'll be there too. Me, I write articles, hit wood with hammer, ding metal and make an arse of myself. You'll spot me easy enough. I'm the guy with the bib to catch the drool from falling on other folks' guns. :what:
