Well, they’re not making anymore of these. Here’s a nice original P53 Enfield with clear barrel stamps and barely visible stock cartouche. Sale includes Whitacre match barrel, Rich Cross sights as well as original barrel and bayonet. The stock is in very good shape with no cracks or breaks just the wisdom marks you’d expect to find on a 161 year old service veteran. Unlike reproduction muskets, this original arm balances and points well and is correct in all the details the reproductions never get right. $2,019.00 plus actual insured shipping costs. Please contact me at [email protected] if interested. Thank You.

I'm embarrassed to say I have not. I have so many Enfield's and so little time. I shoot more flint these days than cap, simply because the majority of people I shoot with, shoot flint and Enfield's are so much more accurate, reliable and easy to load that I feel like I'm cheating. I've never shot a Whitacre barrel that wasn't a match winner.

She's as English as the queen mate, as seen from the proof marks. I believe JT is for the Birmingham Inspector Joseph Turner. The caliber is expressed as 24 gauge, and the barrel is British proofed. The walnut stock bears a faint 72 which I believe is a regimental marking. It has the VR lock stamp for Victoria Regina which I'm told only appears on British issued muskets, and is absent on export arms. I intended to shoot this musket because the stock is in excellent condition and had Dan Whitacre re-barrel it. I'm including the original barrel simply for historical continuity, but would think the musket's real appeal is as an accurate shooter. I've found the trigger pulls on originals to be much nicer than on reproductions. Having too many old guns too shoot, and particularly too many Enfields and bayonets, I thought to sell it to someone who wants an original musket with a match grade barrel.
