Anyone take the time to see what the cap from a can of powder holds? On another forum we determined that the cap held 60 grains of powder. This is the same amount as we use in our civil war weapons -53 Enfields, and 61 Springfields. Personally I own about 8 diffierent size spouts that fit on my powder flasks. Each one marked for amount, They range in size from 10-60 grains. To change tthem just screw them on the flasks. Then also you can buy the single adjustable measure.
I pick up both types at gun shows dirt cheap, then always take a couple to civil war reenactments and make a buck or 2 reselling them to people who.

The best thing that you can do is buy a cheap powder scale. The internal size of shotgun casings vary from one brand to another because of construction by that maker.

I did order a powder scale, aswell as a horn, but the PM was out of stock, so I'm haing to wait.
How many grains would a tea spoon hold? It's what I've been using.

to me that would be in ones perspective, a spoon level, or a spoon full. but i would be weary about loading an unkown amount of powder, thats makes it unsafe, possibly to yourself and others.

I have a powder measure that is store bought and it is adjustable and graduated.works great
When at the range just take a look in the brass bin for some cases that are what i just described, no need to wait long, or see what other shooters around (a BP shooter)and maby ask to buddy up with them to work up a load, i know i would if some one asked.
