hey fellers, I have a 12guage double front stuffer and was wondering if you fellers had a good lube for the over powder wads or if lubing is really necessary?
It has been quite a few years since I have done any shotgunning and I don't remember wheather to lube or not. you know (CRS).

thanks

Natual Lube is sold under different names, and is also known as " Bore Butter" and " Wonderlube ", and was known as Young County 1000 lube years ago when I bought my first jar. If are shooting a match where the gun is going to be fired quickly after loading, you don't have to woory much about the lube contaminating your powder. But, if you are going to shoot much later after loading, I would recommend putting one dry overpowder wad down on the powder, then follow with a second wad that is lubed - run a bead of lube around the mouth of the barrel, and put the second wad down the barrel on top of that lube- before loading your shot. The lube will sit between the two wads, but will be squeezed out as the load is fired and pushed out the barrel. lubing the barrel, and softening the fowling for the next loading. This later set up can sit in the gun for hours and there will be no adverse affect to the barrel, or powder.

I shot about 25 rounds of shot one day with the method Paul suggested. I loaded the powder, then an over powder card, then an over chot card with a dab of Mink Oil Tallow between the two. Then shot, and another over shot card. Kept the bbl lubed very nicely.
