I just revisted this site. It's incredibly interesting and just a small part of Colonial Williamsburg, Va.
Anyone with an interest in American history would do well to make the trek to Colonial Williamsburg where 200 year old everyday life is recreated on a daily bases.
Here is where "historically correct" is rigorously researched and recreated in a monumental effort to preserve part or our culture and heritage. Litterally everything is made, worn, cooked, just they way it was done 200 years ago.
The reinactors there even talk with a cockney like British accent and words and phrases of yesteryear are used(and explained).
The times I've been there I make a point to visit the gunsmith shop and watch the craftsmen cast steel for locks, butt plates, cocks, and other guns parts. The gun barrels are hand forged and NO power tools or pre-made parts are used.
These just might be the ONLY period correct firearms made today.
Yes they are for sale, but the waiting list is long and the price for a plain rifle starts at $20,000.00.

My wife and I started planning our next summer vacation, Colonial Williamsburg, Va. is on the list...

Wait till you visit the Govenors Mansion...count the muskets.... :p

Are they locked up? :winking:

Get my grubby finger prints all over them, I've fondled a few Gettysburg cannons in my day too...

Yes they are locked up,,,,,up on the ceiling they are in a huge fan that circles the entire ceiling...don't over look the muskets along the stairways and also the pistols and swords...go nuts....there are muskets all over Williamsberg...go even nuttier.... :blah:
