I found an interesting barrel at a gun show recently. Only markings are "P. N. Reitzel" and "Canton". Google search didn't turn anything up. It's a very heavy barrel; about 1.4 in outside with about a half inch smooth bore with a false muzzle. If it's not of any great value, I'd like to bore it out to use for a 8-bore build.

It would be pretty rare for a smooth bore to have a false muzzle. Probably some rifling in there maybe shallow and rust covered?

I cleaned it out an can't see any evidence of rifling. Does anyone think it may have been a target rifle a gunsmith started and never finished?
