Does anybody know if T/C pa hunter barrel is !/66 twist or did T/C make that barrel in 1/48 twist also ?

I was cleaning my barrel today and pulled out the ramrod following the rifling twist and measured it. 1/2 turn was about 24 inches. I thought it was 1/66 also Im just curious if anyone knows if they made a 1/48 twist in the pa hunter. I shoots really well prb !

I have never seen one in other than 1/66 but with TC that is no indication of fact they never did. But I don't think they would or did make it in 1/48. :hmm:

I'm almost positive that T/C changed the specs on these guns around the time the "QLA" was introduced. There are 1/66" guns and 1/48" guns out there.
From my understanding if the barrel doesn't specifically say 1/66" then it is a 1/48"
The Carbine versions might all be 1/48" as well.

TC made it in both 48 & 66 twists. There have been a number of posts on this topic. Search on PA Hunter

Mine is 1:48 with a QLA.

I bought one back when they first came out. TC touted it as 1/66 but it doesnt say it on the barrel. Never could hit the broad side of a barn from inside the barn with it. Always thought I'd have it bored smooth someday. I believe it would make a dandy NMLRA sighted smoothbore as it shoots about as accurate as one with rifling

thanks I looked on the chart it shows both 1/48 for the 21 in barrel and 28 in barrel. My barrel has the qla I wonder if it is considered 28 in ? I measured it and its about 31 in long.It shoots prb very well but that dont mean anything so does my 1/48 twist guns! thanks for info wonder if I can call t/c and have them look up the number on the barrel?

I have a carbine and a 31" PA Hunter, both have the QLA and when doing the tight patch test to determine twist rate they are both 1/66 twist I am pretty sure. I have had difficulty with getting them to shoot consistantly but as long as I keep them swabbed out each shot they shoot very well. The trick is keeping the barrel clean for whatever reason I am not certain.

The sweet spot is 80-90 grains and they both really like Goex 2f and don't shoot near as accurately with the 3f. They are both flint and not marked for twist rate. I don't take shots at deer beyond 80 yards with my .50 round ball and they would hit an orange at that distance every time if I did my part. I think the 28" barrels are probably 1/48 twist and there were probably some carbines made in 1/48 towards the end of it's production.I like the two I have. :idunno:
