In my experience with liners (and rear sights) has shown, just in my guns, that a tiny pilot hole is in the liner and I immediately drill them out to 1/16" which seems to work just fine in my guns. Same with rear sights which come with a tiny pilot notch for a guide in filing it to suit. Makes sense when you look at the hole sizes being all over the board.

My Lancaster does not have a flash-hole liner; my builder said it would work just fine without one and it has. I use FFFg for main charge and priming and that works just fine despite many recommendations that only FFFFg will really work well. I don't discount personal experiences but I continue to wonder how many flintlock rifles managed to function well and for years of use 240+ years ago without a flash-hole liner? Call me "not convinced yet". baxter

If you have a Bass Pro Shop near you, they have real black powder. They don't advertise it, dont know why. Had a friend who worked there in the gun dept. told me they keep it in an explosion proof container under lock and key, and have to inventory it after every shift, probably store policy. They had all four grades of Goex I believe. You have to ask for it. They don't keep it on the shelf like the substitutes. Be persistent, the first person I asked said they did not have it! The second person went in the back and came back about 10 minutes later with a brand new can of 2F!

I called the local bass pro, and they don't have the ffffg then I got someone to go in and still nothing..
I joined a local black powder club and they order black powder yearly and have a constant supply for $20 for 1 pound of ffffg I needed, I am good to go and the rifle shoots beautifully

Great stuff. Glad everything is falling into place for you. It might be wise to stock up on a couple pounds of 3F when you have the chance.I like to have 3 or 4 cans of 3F in the box.
A pound of 4F will last a long long time, so I wouldn't worry about a second pound of that till you are down to 1/4 can.

bought my first flintlock in 1982 and grabbed 2 cans of goex 2f and 1 can of 4f. 31 yrs later i'm finally looking to replace the 4f. oh yea, it'll last you.
