I don't really know if this question should be in this forum or not but I'm going to ask it anyway. I have a 10 gauge double and would like to make it just alittle easier to load during my hunt during spring turkey. Have any of you tried wrapping a premeasured charge of black in cig paper and dropping it down the barrel? It's just a thought but it would make things easier for me seeing as I carry enough stuff during turkey season... Do you think a #11 cap would set it off  SSettle

hi ho ssettle

it would have to be an awful big cigarette paper. don't think they are made that big or strong.
try using parchment paper formed around a dowel and glued at both ends.just rip the paper, dump it down the bbl and shove the torn paper on top of the powder. wad and shot as usual, you are ready to go..

..ttfn..grampa..

i take regular computer paper, and wrap it around a 3 1/2' shotgun shell. I fold the ends and tape it with scotch tape. then i pour either powder or shot into it, and fold the top, taping it down as well. This way i have premeasured charges, and i just have to rip and dump it down the barrel. note i do powder and shot separate. each sheet of computer paper gives me 9 charge holders. i just put the trash in my pocket, so i don't have to worry about the tape melting in my barrel. it is a lot faster than using elmers, and does help me reload quickly. plus i can carry 20 pre made charges, so i feel no need to carry a shot snake. saves me 70 bucks

Possibly soaking thin drafting paper in a thin mixture of BP and water, thoroughly dry , form a cylinder on a mandrel, fill w/ powder and close the ends? You'd have a charge inside a nitrated paper which a cap should ignite. The safety aspect in a bag or pocket would have to be explored......Fred

Here's an article that explains paper patching. It is basically the same as making paper cartridges. If you check the Dixie Gun Works catalog, they have the papers, stencils, and glue to make your cartridges. Other suppliers also have the materials.
