Picked one of these up at fall vous a friend had it. With intense trading it is mine. Made in Birmingham.Since I have a thing for rifles that are almost surgical I had to have it.Now any of you gentlemen have a pet load. I also picked up the lyman mold for the alexander henry rifleing. .451 and a slug that looks like a tank round.

Hi,
Mine performs well with 70 grains 2f, card over powder, lubed felt wad ( any of the lube material used on lead bullets ) paper patch bullets with linnen paper, or linnen cloth.( bullets should also be lubed)
Recoil is substantial with a 405 grain bullet.
Damp swab between shots.
Barrel must be clean to achieve any degree of accuracy.
Also you would need stainless nipples to reduce erosion.
You are basically reproducing a 45-70 round.
Old Ford

it's a very good mid range target rifle, i reccomend getting a platinum lined nipple otherwise your nipple will erode at the worst possible time.

on that note, i have an aperture rear sight that i'm willing to sell. it's served me well on the whitworth.

What is your source of platinum lined nipples?I have a PH Whitworth and as you say they do burn out at the most inopportune time.

buffalo arms usually has them. if they don't i have another source, i'll PM you with that.

i have a Birmingham PH Volunteer rifle and a Euroarms Italian version. Both are supremely accurate with anything i care to stuff down the barrel. I've used Lyman 457121, 457122, 451114, NEI #277C, LBT .451-500-LFN. A LBT .452-320-LFN (heavy 45 Colt) with 75grs 2Fg makes a great low recoil paper puncher.
