If I'm seeing your arrow correctly, that looks like the elevation stop screw.

I can guess the buggering came when you tried to turn it after the sight had been lowered hard onto it. If that's right, next time back it off real good, do your sighting in, then lower it down to just firmly touch the sight block. It's intended as a little extra support after you're sighted in.

You are very likely correct though I am sure it was exacerbated by not having the right screwdriver, something I see all the time at the range.

I shot plastic thingy's in that GPH it's mounted on and I'm going to switch back to conicals so I'm sure some adjusting will be in order and It gets tiresome using a set of needle nose vise grips on that screw ...

Now to find the right conical ... the mind is confounded with the possibilities ...
 
I have that screw set for 100 yards. I adjust my sights for the shot so if I have a 150 yard shot I set it and shoot. I then can go back without looking to 100 yards.
