I’m loading for my new 45 cal flintlocks (rifle and pistol) and find these pre-cut patches a little big.

So, for you guys who “cut yer own” what tool do you use?

Thanks!!
When I use patches and cut my own, I cut them at the muzzle with my belt knife.

If they are already cut into squares I would use scissors and maybe just clip the corners.

I use pillow ticking as patch material. I cut it into strips, 1.5” wide and a yard in length. I roll it up, soak it in patch lube and carry it in my shooting bag in a waterproof canvas bag.

For use, I start the ball at the muzzle, that cur it off. Perfect patch, nearly everytime.

I precut my patches with a hole saw with the teeth ground off in my drill press. Six layers of cloth make many patches quick and easy.
