Here is a picture of a patch knife my son made me for Christmas a couple of years ago. It's either the first or second knife he ever made. The metal is an old saw blade and he cut a point off a shed I had laying around.

He made the sheath from a scrap of oil tanned leather. I think it's the first sheath he ever made.

That is a very nice knife for only being his second one ever made. I hope he keeps his interest in make such items. The sheath is very nice for his first go at it too. Your luck to have a son interested in doing these things.
How old is your son if I may ask?

He rolled up 50 years day before yesterday. That makes me an old goat. :shocked2:

Nice knife. And, 50 ain't that old. I'm 49 and just getting broken in....or is that broken down.... :surrender:

 Yer just gittin broke in, Capt Fred. I'm 63 and aging like a fine wine, not even close to turnin to vinegar. Health is good, equipment all works, very few aches and pains. Life is good.
And I give thanks for it every night.
