newbie question, what is the problem with silicon as it relates to muzzleloading?
I'd like to know that answer too. I've always heard don't use it, but never why.
@halman I think you meant silicone?
From what little I know, silicone and black powder both ignite at around 450C, so I'm guessing the silicone won't completely burn up, and what doesn't burn will just keep building up until loading becomes a problem.
(I am not a chemist, so do your own research )
The other thing is when silicone burns, one of the byproducts is silica (as in sand). That's probably not ideal for a lube.
