Nechhi, Excuse misspelling

This i not aimed at you as, like myself you used denim with, I assume, no stripes. I just had to chime in some where

If you are having wizard results with your ticking and run out you may be surprised when your next batch of of ticking just does\t work at all well.

The striping may be exactly the same but the fabric it's printed on may be too thick to load or too thin do do the right thing

That is why I think you should take a compressed measurement with your successful patching, striped or plain, so that when you go to replenish your suppy you select a fabric that has the same compressed measurement of it thickness.

I see so many complaints about a rifle suddenly misbehaving with ticking andd I bet there has been a replacement that just LLOKS the same because the sripes are the same.

Dutch

Using a micrometer is preferable to using calipers due to the compression they each can do. When I did my first attempt of doing my own patches I used a caliper, bought the correct hole punch and then proceeded to make 800 patches that ended up being .003 too thick over the target of .015. Still haven't used any :(

What Hoppes product are you using to lube your patches. The only one that I have is Hoppes no. 9 lubricating oil in a spray can. Should I lube my patches with this???????????..........Chawbeef

NO We use Hoppes BLACK POWDER SOLVENT AND PATCH LUBRICANT. The other is for smokeless.

You can get on amazon I believe? I dont use it much anymore but in a pinch its my go to. The dutch system is what I use (except last time per other thread I tried too thick a denim and couldnt load). Hoppes worked as usual.

I use Hoppes #9 Black Powder Lube. Don't use the smokeless cleaner whatever you do!

I too occasionally use Hoppes #9 BP to luge or clean at the range. I still have part of a quart bottle I bought 30+ years ago, so you know it isn't something I use all the time. Most of the time it is spit patch and then water for cleaning.
