DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF WHAT A USED PATCH SHOULD LOOK LIKE WITH THE PROPER LOAD AND THICKNESS TICKING.

HERE ARE SOME . . . er, why are we yelling?

Here are some of mine. These are 0.020" with a 0.490" ball, and are a tight fit. No burn throughs, no slices, just a bit dirty and lightly toasted. Cut at the muzzle (actually, a loading block, but the same result).

Dipped in moose milk and dried flat before use.

here's what they shouldn't look like. These were .018" ticking, from the .75 bess with .715 balls and grease for lube. Although they loaded nicely, they were just too thin to seal the Bess's low pressure behind them. Putting a wad or cloth patch down first on the powder before loading these thin-patched balls, resulted in patches looking just like Stumpkiller's patches- perfect. I prefer to use tight combo's that seal by themselves - properly. They're generally more accurate than wadded loads with too-thin patches.
