Laurel Mountain Maple Stain with no iron added. 7 coats of Tried & True and lots of sun. Seems to me that the stain got lighter basting in the sun between coats........labrat

All of the maple stocks that I have done used AF/Iron nitrate. You convinced me to try stain only. Very nice! I wish I could engrave as well as you.

2 years ago I built my first kit a Kibler Colonial. That was my first introduction to flintlock rifles and building a kit. All the questions and how to information I received was from this wonderful web site. I knew how to engrave but that was the extent of my building knowledge. Thank goodness for a great Kibler kit and the helpful people on this web site. My Colonial was finished as per Jim's instructions using iron nitrate so it's a wonderful dark extra curly maple. This woodsrunner is my 2nd build and I wanted it to be light in color so it would show nicely on my wall. Haven't shot a flintlock yet. I've bought everything I need to shoot so maybe in a week I'll give it a try. Looks pretty cool on u-tube........labrat

Beautiful job you did on that gun, my woodsrunner is my first black powder. Fired it maybe 30 times at a club event so far, and it is blast!! Just remember powder-patch-ball as it won't work any other way (as I found out the hard way) hi 😀
