My hand is extremely sore, but I cannot wait to sight in this baby in the next couple weeks:) Here's a couple links to it.

PS: You regualar builders are amazing to me. Some of you are only charging $150 dollars for one of these. I would be more tempted to take $150 of the cost of the gun to talk a customer out of this:)

I don't think that's a $150 patchbox!

Nice job. :hatsoff:

No matter what, it serves more use than the "C" scrolls.

One smith told me the next customer who asks for a domed patchbox was getting hung-up on.

Thanks and how how does a builder really charge for a patchbox like this?

Looks good. :)
Now you can start thinking about your Bedford. You know, the one with the Q finial and the twin pierced arches, top and bottom.

Yes, they are a PITA but I'm willing to bet that after your scars have totally healed, you will look at your gun and say "That, is one fine looking patchbox!"

Thanks Zonie. I am curious though what a builder would charge for a patchbox such as this. I'm curious if I made minimium wage:)

No one who builds these guns (except the parts suppliers) makes minimum wages.

Admittedly, I take more time than I really need to but if I were making minimum wages, my time spent in building one of these rifles (at minimum wages) would be worth at least $1500. If I added the cost of the parts that would make each one of them worth over $1900.

We do it because there is a satisfaction in seeing a well made gun which we sweated over, cussed at, fussed with and worried about. It contains a piece of us in it.

We made something that is truly unique in all of the world. There is no other exactly like it!

When it's finished, we know it is made out of the very best materials available, fitted with precision that no commercial company could ever afford to do and it's ours!!  :)

How much would it cost to inlet a pierced patchbox? My price would be at least $250, maybe more. (I don't like inletting pierced patchboxes either but they sure do look nice when they are finished.)

You think you had it rough? Take a look at one of the guns made in Western Pennsylvania:
