I always leave in strips so I've got tourniquet material for after I cut patch at the muzzle.. or after wiping the rain off my flint.

I used scissors for quite some time, then they told ya weren't supposed to run with them, so now I'm back to a knife. Guess it's safer to run with a knife than scissors, who knew.
