Patches

The cleaning patches I like are pretty reasonable but,, thought I would ck and see if any of you have found a good material that's cheap and makes good cleaning patches. I tried old t shirts years ago but the had a little stretch to them and would get hung up in the barrel.

Old sheets work well, you want a woven fabric, not a knit.

WalMArt sells a White Flannel material in bulk in their fabric section. I buy it 3 yds ( or so...) at a time and cut my own 2x2 cleaning patches. They work great, as well or better than any commercial patches I've ever bought.
Note: unlike the "shooting patches" I use that are also cut from bulk fabric....my Flannel cleaning patch material is NOT washed before use.

Any old cotton rags - T shirts, shirts, flannel, whatever. It has worked for me for over 30 years.

Old 100% cotton tee shirts by Duluth make nice heavy patches. My old sheets make lighter patches good for the range where you want to stay out of trouble. I have not had the stretching problem you mentioned. With a cutter and a piece of plexiglass you can have 100+ patches in about 15 minutes.
