I use a bore brush that fits into the chamber. Mine is for .32 to .35 caliber with 10-32 threads to fit my range rod. Use the brush, then a patch wrapped on the brush to wipe it clean.

What size brush would i need for a .54.

Probably the first question that i should have asked, but do renegades utalize this style breech.

:v

I have a .50 with Track's version of the patent breech. I figured out the right size brush before I installed the drum. I think I could have done it by feel if I had a range of different brush sizes, say from .25 through .45. I don't know if the Renegade has a flat breech or a patent. What does it feel like through the ramrod?

I used my .22 cleanin rod and it feels like it gets smaller, but only a little and the it is flat on the bottom.

Does anyone have a picture of a Renegade breech?

Good Afternoon RenegadeGuy54,

No photos, but sitting here on my computer table is a factory T-C Renegade breech plug.

The powder chamber measures 0.350" in diameter and 0.400 deep.

For me I find that only the "flush tube method" will clean the patent breech to my satisfaction.

My cleaning procedure is detailed in previous posts.

Best regards and good shooting,

John L. Hinnant

All the T?C's have a patent breech as far as i know. The powder chamber hole isn't that big. If yu shine a brite flashlight down the barrel, (BE SURE IT ISN'T LOADED FIRST) and look, you should be able to see it.

TC's Patent Breech from a caplock...Flintlock is the same without the snail...a .30cal brush handles all calibers, wrap a patch around it as others have said...apply lube the same way.

I have three patent breech rifles all different sizes. I used to use a .22 slotted jag ro reach into the breech but found a .22 brush works better. I just wrap a patch around it enough times to touch both sides of the breech.

I use a .22 brush because it will fit into the Seneca breech and also fit the Hawken types with a few more wraps.
