Wow, I just finished watching 4 hours worth of the story of the French and Indian War, narrated by Graham Greene I was impressed by the re-enactments and the flintlock rifles used, and accrouments and dress. I am no expert in anything so for a reccommendastion from me, might not be worrth anything, but it was very educational to me. Other views and thoughts might be enlighting.

I bought the dvds and the companion book after seeing it on tv. It is a very well done series and the book fills alot of the gaps from the vidio. Its well worth buying.

Interesting program!
I just wish they would have mixed it up a bit when purchasing their red and blue fabric for leggings and breechcloths....

The War That Made America is certainly worth seeing.
You can see it free by punching it into Google and it comes up as a series of utube videos.
The only thing I found lacking was almost nothing on New England-No Rogers Rangers. Most of the movie centers around PA.
Why?
Well look at the sponsors of the film. PA state $ went into it and PA foundations went into it.
Nice thing for us is my daughter is in 8th grade here in PA and the film is part of her schools history studies.

The book is fantastic. Insightful, compelling, and very readable. The audio version sold on Amazon's download site, Audible.com, is very well done, too (which isn't always the case).

I visited a buddy a while back and he had the dvd set. I enjoyed it so much I ordered it for myself from Amazon. Probably a lot cheaper than the PBS store.

Another great French Indian War dvd is "When the Forests Ran Red", also available from Amazon for about $20. Extremely well done, and thankfully, has lots of maps.
